Being from San Diego (home of the best Mexican food in the world) I was naturally sceptical regarding getting quality food in Southern Utah. I was with a group of 6 guys from So. Cal on a mountain biking trip and we stumbled across Alberto's the third morning of our trip and decided to take a shot. We expected the food to be sub par at best and we were Shocked! This restaurant could have been in El Cajon. $4 for a great breakfast burrito. You can't go wrong here. So good that as a concensus we decided to go there again our last morning in town. Great salsa bar!!!

Food quality here has really taken a dive. The master burrito used to be awesome but nowadays tastes like it was filled with last week's leftovers. No flavor whatsoever.

This has become a regular stop. Mostly because it is open 24 hours (drive-thru) and fills the tank when hungry from driving all day. It is similar to Roberto's but the prices are much cheaper. The taste of the food is different too. This last trip hubby and I decided to split a "Carne Asada Burrito". From previous experience we knew the burritos were hefty in size so just 1 of them would be fine. I have to say the tortilla is excellent. The inside of the burrito was filled with plenty of meat, cheese and pico de gallo, it just lacked the flavor I was looking for. It was priced at just under $4 which is a good price for the size. Alberto's wont be my first choice when in St George, but having a drive-thru that is open 24 hours means that when late night options are limited I do have an A-OK option. When it comes to menu options there is a variety of stuff from breakfast, tacos, enchiladas, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, churros, specialty drinks etc. They have seating inside and outside. The inside could be cleaner.

There was a time that Alberto's was the burrito king of St. George. That time has passed. I used to go enjoy a breakfast burrito, or a master burrito, or a carne asada burrito, but it just isn't as special as it used to be. I prefer to go to Jalepenos or El Coyote Charro now. If you do go here, you won't be disappointed, the food is good, but I know there are better Mexican options in town.

I love this place , I eat here often and the food is freaking delicious! I've never been disappointed. Yes the food is very greasy and will probably destroy your gut but who cares!

I've been here a few times now and I'm not really impressed.. First I tried the tacos, not a fan.. The second time I tried the burrito.. It was okay.. The carne asada was good.. Salsa wasn't fresh.. Service was fast.. And its nice that it's open 24 hours..

We got the "mix" breakfast burrito. You cant really tell what the meats are inside. Mostly chunks of fat. Maybe just an off day but i wont be back.

Not bad, not good, just ok. We went on a sunday, in part because it was one of the only places in town that was open. Portions were pretty big, and we saw some other folks who had burritos and those were huge. I had the carnitas tacos the outside of the meat had a nice texture but was low on flavor.

We decided to come here after a hike since we didn't really get to eat a hearty lunch and it was almost 4pm. Since this mexican restaurant is in LA we decided to come here because we recognized it. BOY, were we wrong. I ordered a pork torta and the pork was dry and overcooked. Terrible!!! If it wasn't for the fact that I was starving, I would have returned it and asked for something else. The only thing that was good was the lemonade and it quenched my thirst.

Good food at a good price. Can't complain about a $3.50 burrito.

On the final day of a 10-day road trip, we stopped by St George to visit a friend. Since we have Roberto's in Vegas, but not Alberto's, I decided I'd give the latter a try. My verdict: I'm okay with Alberto's not setting up shop in Vegas. I had their Machaca plate and it was just way too salty. The saving grace: they have strawberry churros and they are pretty good. I'll stick with Roberto's. Better yet, Amigos Tacos is where it's at.

the rice & beans are okay and the food has a nice flavor, but the meats (pork, chicken, asada) are horrible--bad cuts, dry.

    The burritos are the best!

I disagree with the person who compared Albertos unfavorably with Robertos in Vegas. They are about the same. If the dish was too salty, it is my guess they were there on a bad day. The salsa and food here are authentic Mexican and very good!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
